Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Half of Uzbekistan's youth to study at universities by 2026. This goal is set in the draft roadmap for the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan until 2026.
According to the document, by the end of this year, higher education should cover 38% of the country's youth, and by 2026 - 50%. It is assumed that in five years the number of students will reach 250 thousand.
From the next academic year, financially independent state-owned universities will independently approve curricula, qualification requirements, and the form of education.
In addition, separate admission quotas will be provided for applicants who are ready to “gnaw the granite of science” remotely.
The authorities do not forget about housing for students: in 2022, 47 hostels are to be opened for 18.8 thousand places. They will be built on the basis of a public-private partnership.
