Grozny and Bukhara Become Sister Cities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Grozny (Chechnya) and Bukhara have officially become sister cities. The signed agreement outlines cooperation in the fields of religious education, youth policy, culture, and tourism.

The agreement was signed via videoconference. In a conversation with TASS, Grozny Mayor Khas-Magomed Kadyrov emphasized the symbolic nature of the event: “It is especially meaningful that Grozny is establishing sister city relations with such a renowned city as Bukhara. I am confident this will mark the beginning of fruitful exchanges, joint cultural initiatives, and new projects that will strengthen both economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the centuries-old friendship between our peoples.”

The mayor added that Grozny already has partnership agreements with 23 cities around the world, including Luhansk, with which a sister city agreement was signed in January 2025, and Sukhumi, the capital of Abkhazia.
