Greece Views 2026 as an Opportunity to Expand Business in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bilateral trade and economic relations between Greece and Uzbekistan offer significant potential, with 2026 seen as a year of opportunities for Greek businesses, according to statements by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Rome and Athens, Abat Fayzullaev, and the President of the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), Stavros Kafunis.
Greek media reported that the parties discussed Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen international ties and attract investments from the US and EU, as well as the opening of a new Greek embassy in Tashkent. Fayzullaev encouraged ESEE to facilitate communication channels and sustainable cooperation with the Greek business community.
Kafunis noted that the current trade volume between the two countries—Greek exports to Uzbekistan of $8.41 million and imports from Uzbekistan of $7.55 million in 2024—does not reflect the true potential of their economies.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan’s openness, the active Greek diaspora, and investment initiatives create new opportunities for business expansion in the coming years.
