Governor of Ferghana Region meets with EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Governor of Ferghana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting with the European Union’s Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais, as part of the Ferghana Peace Forum.
At the beginning of the meeting, Stiprais commended the high level of organization of the Forum and emphasized that, thanks to the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, friendly, good-neighborly, and mutually beneficial relations among the Central Asian countries have been strengthened, with strategic partnership reaching a new level.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the steady development of cooperation with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the activation of interregional ties, and the resolution of border-related issues. It was noted that peace and harmony in the region are key factors in ensuring sustainable development of the states.
The interlocutors also recalled the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit held in April in Samarkand, where agreements were reached on a number of pressing issues.
Khayrullo Bozorov noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU is actively developing across political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian, and educational areas.
Particular attention is being paid to joint projects between Ferghana Region and European countries in the fields of education, healthcare, migration, and trade and investment.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the prospects for further expanding interregional cooperation with the European Union.
