Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Google and Apple have warned users in Central Asian countries about an increased risk of cyberattacks, Reuters reports.
The corporations began sending notifications last week, alerting about potential breaches involving the spyware Intellexa.
Google identified Kazakhstan among the most vulnerable countries, citing cases of the program being used.
Apple reported that notifications have been sent since December 2 to over 150 countries, including Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Angola, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.
The company did not provide details on the number of affected users or the individuals behind the attacks.
According to the corporations, the attacks impacted hundreds of accounts, with users exposed to threats of remote control via Intellexa spyware.
