Gold and silver sales on UZEX Increase by 61% in 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2024, 2.9 tons of gold and silver were sold through the exchange trading of the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UZEX), marking an increase of 61.1% compared to the previous year.

The total transaction amount reached 2.5 trillion soums, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 127.3%. In comparison, in 2023, the volume of precious metal sales amounted to 1.8 tons worth 1.1 trillion soums.

Over the past year, 2,535.1 kg of gold was sold through the exchange, with the average exchange price standing at 977.5 thousand soums per gram. Silver sales reached 377.0 kg, with the weighted average price at 11,325.2 soums per gram.

The starting price of precious metals on the exchange is determined based on the latest morning fixing by the London Bullion Market Association, recalculated into the national currency at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan on the transaction date.

The main sellers of precious metals on the exchange market are Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) and Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Company (NMMC), while the buyers are industrial enterprises with processing capabilities, as well as jewelry manufacturers.
