GM Uzbekistan to construct another car plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzavtosanoat (Uzbek Car Industry) and General Motors (United States) are planning to construct another plant for production of automobiles in Uzbekistan, the employee of Uzavtosanoat’s press service Ruslan Batirov said in an article, published in newspaper Pravda Vostoka.

The article said that GM Uzbekistan produces 10 models of cars and tens of modern enterprises produce spare parts and components for the cars. It added that over 320 old equipments were replaced at GM Uzbekistan during modernization. The cost of equipments exceeded US$19.3 million.

Ruslan Batirov noted that currently Uzavtosanoat in cooperation with General Motors is planning to construct additional plant to expand model line, produced at GM Uzbekistan. He said that the main part of planned projects in automobile industry will be directed at launching production of spare parts and components.

The publication said that enterprises of Uzavtosanoat commissioned 14 projects for US$87.4 million in 2014 within the investment programme. In particular, the Uzbek enterprises started to produce lights for Lacetti, seats and plastic products for interior, etc.
