Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the new academic year, the Grozny State Oil Technical University named after Academician M. D. Millionshchikov (GGNTU) for the first time launches online Russian language courses for students of Uzbekistan. 

The courses are designed specifically for those who are preparing to enter Russian universities or are already studying in them. With the help of free courses, students will not only improve their language skills, but also get acquainted with the history and culture of Russia.

The project was developed by the Director of the Institute of Applied Information Technologies, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Esmira Alisultanova with the active support of the staff of the SPO and the interlingual department of GGNTU. The university team did a comprehensive job: created an educational platform for placing courses and organizing training, designed 20 massive open online courses, developed digital educational and teaching content to fill them (60 video lectures, presentations, test materials, assignments, forum topics, surveys and etc.).

Testing of the first online courses will begin in September, and more than 160 citizens of other countries will take part in it. After the full launch of the program, hundreds of foreigners will be able to use it. Their training will be divided into blocks according to skill levels and topics. For example, the course includes a national block designed to help students adapt in advance to the regional characteristics of the Chechen Republic, as well as materials for understanding the specifics of studying at an engineering and technical university.

“The project solves several tasks that are relevant for the country at once: the development of distance education technologies and the improvement of methods for teaching Russian as a foreign language. In addition, he helps foreigners interested in entering Russian universities to prepare for their arrival in the country. The GGNTU WEB-Platform “Studying Russia – Learning the Russian Language” will make it possible to remove language barriers for foreign students studying at universities. At our online courses, they will get acquainted with the life and rich culture of the country, they will be able to master the Russian language,” emphasizes the representative of GGNTU.

The project will be implemented by December within the framework of the state program "Development of Education". In July, GGNTU won a grant from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in the amount of 3 million rubles for the implementation of the project "Creation of an electronic educational platform - Studying Russia through the knowledge of Russian culture and the Russian language." 147 applications were submitted for the competitive selection within the framework of the events of the state program "Development of Education", Grozny Oil was among 67 winners.

The project is being implemented in partnership with two foreign universities: Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov (Uzbekistan) and Gavar State University (Armenia).
