General technical regulation on the establishment of safety requirements for printing products for educational institutions approved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Government resolution approved the General Technical Regulations on establishing safety requirements for printed products for educational institutions.

The regulation establishes:

- requirements for the safety of printing products used in the field of preschool, general secondary and secondary specialized and vocational education;

- safety requirements for printed materials intended for writing;

- requirements for the safety of educational publications and publications for additional education;

- requirements for the packaging of printing products, educational publications and publications of additional education for writing;

- methods of identification, sampling and control of printed products.

The regulation was developed in order to protect the life and health of users, protect the environment, as well as prevent actions that mislead consumers.

In educational publications, including those for general secondary and secondary specialized, as well as vocational education, narrow-print fonts cannot be used.

Also, the use of newsprint and glossy paper in printing products for educational institutions is not allowed.

Editions by age category are designed for:

- 1-4 classes;

- 5-9 grades;

- 10-11 grades.

The weight of publications for textbooks should not exceed:

- 300 grams for grades 1-4;

- 400 grams for grades 5-6;

- 500 grams for grades 7-9;

- 600 grams for grades 10-11.

Literature for grades 1-4 does not use colored paints, font markings, underlined fonts, multi-column typing.

The regulation is introduced after 6 months from the date of official publication.
