Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov, as part of his visit to Italy, visited the headquarters of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome.
During negotiations with the regional director of the Department of the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, Dina Saleh, issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and IFAD were discussed in the areas of increasing the income of farms and agricultural workers, developing horticulture and animal husbandry, and attracting private investment to the industry.
Particular attention was paid to adaptation to climate change in the Aral Sea region, diversification and modernization of agriculture.
An exchange of views took place on the prospects for further expanding the portfolio of projects included in the currently being developed Strategy for Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the International Fund for Agricultural Development for 2023-2027.
It was noted that the decision taken by IFAD to open its representative office in Tashkent will serve to bring relations with Uzbekistan to a qualitatively new level, implement projects and expand the horizons of interaction.
