Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 November 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov held a meeting with the Regional Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan, who arrived in our country to participate in International web forum “Ensuring inclusion for children with disabilities”, timed to coincide with World Children’s Day and the 75th anniversary of UNICEF.

During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNICEF was discussed, as well as urgent tasks for the near future.

The head of UNICEF was familiarized in detail with the practical measures being taken in Uzbekistan to ensure social protection of children, protect and strengthen the health of mothers and children, improve the education system, and expand access to quality medical services.

In turn, Afshan Khan welcomed the “Mehr” humanitarian action carried out by the Government of Uzbekistan to return citizens, especially women and children from conflict zones, as well as their reintegration into society and create the necessary conditions for them. 

Special attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects within the framework of the new Country Cooperation Program of the Fund for Uzbekistan for 2021-2025.
