Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gairat Fozilov met with the head of the Department for Europe and Central Asia of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Hulan Tsedev.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OHCHR were considered.

Representatives of the Office of the High Commissioner were informed about large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, including in the field of democratization of society, ensuring human rights, freedoms and interests.

The parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN treaty bodies and special procedures.

Khulan Tsedev highly appreciated the transformations being carried out in the republic, in particular, in the field of human rights.

An exchange of views took place on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and OHCHR, including through the provision of expert and advisory assistance in the implementation of the recommendations of the UN treaty bodies, as well as in the preparation of the national report of the republic as part of the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review.
