Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 May 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov held talks with Deputy Director General of the Bureau for European Affairs, Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia Shuichi Tokuda in the format of a video conference.
During the conversation, the state and prospects for the development of multifaceted Uzbek-Japanese relations, organizational aspects of upcoming joint events, as well as topical issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations and multilateral structures were considered.
The parties noted with satisfaction the significant intensification of bilateral ties after the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in December 2019 and the telephone conversation of the leader of our country with the Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga on 12 May 2021.
In this context, the importance of maintaining a high level of bilateral relations, further strengthening of strategic partnership, effective implementation of the agreements reached and the development of new promising investment projects was emphasized. The need to increase the volume and diversify the range of mutual trade was noted.
Special attention was paid to interaction in the field of education, in particular, the adoption of the necessary measures to stimulate the study of the Japanese language among the youth of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of the Uzbek-Japanese agenda.
