Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 July 2020, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Furkat Sidikov, held a video conference call in talks with the General Coordinator of the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) Ikbal Chaudri and COMSTECH Advisor Khurshid Khasnayn.
During the conversation, the state and prospects of strengthening the interaction of Uzbekistan with COMSTECH in the field of science and technology against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed.
As noted, a number of visits by the COMSTECH leadership to Uzbekistan were organized in 2017-2019, following which a Road Map was signed to further deepen the partnership.
The COMSTECH General Coordinator praised the measures taken in Uzbekistan to combat the consequences of coronavirus and to provide comprehensive support to all sectors and sectors of the country’s economy.
In light of the development of the situation with COVID-19, it was agreed to hold a series of scientific and practical webinars and video conferences with the participation of scientists and representatives of relevant departments of the COMSTECH countries to discuss issues of the joint fight against coronavirus, its socio-economic consequences, and joint research.
During the videoconference, the parties considered other issues of mutual interest.
