Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 March 2022, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Kamaruddin Jaffar in Kuala Lumpur.
During the talks, the state and prospects for the further development of Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation were discussed.
The Malaysian side highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at improving public administration and the legislative sphere, liberalizing and modernizing the national economy.
On the same day, the fifth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Malaysia took place.
The meeting confirmed mutual interest in realizing the existing significant potential to strengthen partnerships in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The necessity of expanding contacts between the legislative bodies of the two countries was emphasized. It was noted that the deepening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue will contribute to the intensification of ties in all areas of the common agenda.
Proposals for increasing cultural, humanitarian and tourist exchanges were considered.
Special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing interaction between the parties within the framework of the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international institutions.
There was also an exchange of views on topical aspects of international and regional politics.
