Fund for Development of Aral Sea Basin to be created in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On state programme on development of Aral Sea Basin for 2017-2021” on 18 January 2017.

The Fund is created to ensure reliable and stable financing of the measures on developing Aral Sea Basin and improving conditions and standards of the population life.

The sources of the Fund will be resources of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, investment fee for natural gas, realized via fueling stations, state budget, preferential loans of international financial institutes and foreign donors, individuals, charity funds, etc.

Uzbek leader approved the state programme on development of Aral Sea Basin. The programme is directed at improving conditions and quality of people life and envisages realization of projects for over 8.422 trillion soums.

Overall, it is planned to realize 67 projects and measures within the programme. The measures are directed at creating new jobs, increasing investment attractive regions, developing water supply, sewage system, waste utilization, developing transport, engineer and communications infrastructure, etc.

Uzbek leader provided tax preferences to small and private businesses, created in the sphere of industry till 2022 or 2027 depending location of the enterprise.
