Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A two-day scientific and practical conference on the theme: "The contribution of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to strengthening friendship, good-neighborliness and trust, opening a new page of the Uzbek-Tajik strategic partnership" has ended in Dushanbe.

On the sidelines of the conference, separate bilateral meetings were organized between representatives of research, think tanks and higher education institutions. During the talks, the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, and specific agreements were reached on the further development of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In particular, memorandums of understanding were signed between the Center for Economic Research and Reforms of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Economics and Demography of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, as well as between the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Art Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

The Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan signed an Agreement on scientific cooperation with the Physicotechnical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

The Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Geology, Earthquake Resistant Construction and Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan have also agreed on cooperation in the field of seismology.

In addition, the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of Plants of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Botany, Physiology and Plant Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan have started to work out a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Institute for Strategic and Interregional Research under the President of Uzbekistan and the Center for Strategic Research under the President of Tajikistan decided to develop, within the framework of the current memorandum between the parties, a Plan of Practical Cooperation on the organization of joint research activities on topical issues of mutual interest.
