French Senator pays visit to Uzbekistan

Within the visit the French Senator met with the chairperson of the Committee on foreign political issues of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safaev and Senator Sayyora Baratova.

This was the second meeting of Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam and Sodiq Safaev in last two weeks. The first meeting was held when the Uzbek Senator visited France within the EU-funded project “Further Strengthening of the Bi-Cameral Parliamentary System and Communications between the Parliament and the Regional Assemblies in Uzbekistan”.

The sides underlined high level of the relations between Uzbekistan and France, including between parliaments of two states. The sides considered some international and regional issues.

French Senator also held meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilyor Hakimov to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.

Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam visited Institute of strategic and interregional researches and Institute of monitoring of legislation under the President of Uzbekistan. The sides discussed issues of establishing partnership relations between research institutes of two states.

French Senator also met with chairperson of newly opened French Alliance Tashkent Shoazim Minovarov and visited French school in Tashkent. She also visited Samarkand and Bukhara.
