Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 19 August, the Women’s Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries began its work in the capital’s Congress Hall with the participation of representatives from eight countries.

The forum was opened by the chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the head of the Republican Commission on the issues of increasing the role of women in society, gender equality and the family, Tanzila Narbayeva.

SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming is also expected to speak online at the forum.

Within the framework of the forum, five plenary sessions will be held on the topics “Activating the role of women in public and political life and their participation in decision-making”, “The contribution of women’s entrepreneurship to the socio-economic development of the SCO countries”, “Innovations and the development of the digital economy: an important factor in ensuring sustainable Development of Societies of the SCO Countries”, “The Role of Women in the Sustainable and Inclusive Development of the SCO Countries”, “Gender Contribution in Overcoming the Challenges of the Pandemic”.
