Former leadership of "Toshshakhartranskhizmat" sentenced in Tashkent in embezzlement and corruption case

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A verdict has been handed down in Tashkent against the former chairman of the board of "Toshshakhartranskhizmat" and head of the capital’s Transport Administration, Anvar Juraev.

The Almazar District Criminal Court found him guilty of embezzlement, corruption, and abuse of office.

A total of 20 individuals were implicated in the case.

Anvar Juraev was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison, with an additional three-year ban on holding managerial positions. His former deputy, Abdujamil Azizov, received the same sentence.

The former head of "Toshavtotamirkhizmat," Khusan Makhkamov, and his deputy, Ahmad Alimov, were sentenced to five years and six months in prison.

Bekzod Ibragimov, the former head of the eighth bus depot, received two years and three months of restricted freedom, while the chief engineer of the same depot, Shukhrat Akhmedov, was sentenced to two years and seven months of restricted freedom.

Additionally, the court imposed fines and job bans on several other defendants.

Shoaziz Ashirov, deputy head of the first bus depot, was fined 119 million soums, while Ismoil Baratov, deputy head of the eighth bus depot, was fined 105.8 million soums.

Former head of the first bus depot, Dilshod Toshpulotov, was exempted from punishment but was banned from holding managerial positions for three years.

Other convicted individuals included bus depot employees, mechanics, and accountants, who were fined between 9.5 and 25 million soums and faced restrictions on their professional activities.

The leadership of "Toshshakhartranskhizmat" was found guilty of organizing the embezzlement of spare parts and budget funds, accepting bribes in procurement deals, and falsifying documents. The total damage to the state amounted to 3.2 billion soums, with 2.1 billion to be repaid by Anvar Juraev, Abdujamil Azizov, and their accomplices.

The convicted individuals have filed appeals.
