Foreign policy of New Uzbekistan: dynamics, achievements and prospects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 December 2021, a round table “Foreign policy of New Uzbekistan: dynamics, achievements and prospects” was held with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Tashkent.

During the event, a thorough exchange of views took place on conceptual issues of forming a new image of Uzbekistan in the international arena, modern directions and main priorities of the country’s foreign policy activities, as well as the results and results of the comprehensive work done in recent years in the field of foreign policy were discussed.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov noted that 2021 for Uzbekistan and international relations of the republic was full of bright political events and fruitful diplomatic contacts. An exchange of visits at the highest and high levels took place, a dialogue in bilateral and multilateral formats with key foreign policy partners developed intensively.

It was emphasized that the main goal of the foreign policy strategy of the republic in the new year is to ensure a dynamic and sustainable political, socio-economic, secular and democratic development of the country. The most important task is to further strengthen good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership, primarily with the countries of Central Asia.

The minister also stressed the importance of developing common approaches of the world community towards Afghanistan, without bringing the situation to the international isolation of the country and a large-scale crisis.

In general, the foreign policy strategy of Uzbekistan reflects one of the key world trends: the transformation of regional cooperation into a factor of economic growth, modernization and sustainable development of states, strengthening the readiness to respond to the challenges of our time.

The heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states, speaking at the round table, emphasized the serious achievements that New Uzbekistan has achieved in recent years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The intensification of partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation with all foreign countries, especially in the areas of trade, investment, development of transport and communication ties, was noted.

The heads of foreign diplomatic missions also highlighted the significant activity of Uzbekistan within the framework of multilateral structures, the election of the republic as a member of the UN Human Rights Council, the initiatives put forward at the UN General Assembly, the chairmanship in the SCO and ECO, dynamic cooperation with other international and regional organizations.

The roundtable participants emphasized the significant growth in the activity and importance of Uzbekistan in the Central Asia region and in the international arena in general.
