Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Moldova hold political consultations
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan, the consultations took place in Chisinau on 15 June 2018 at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
The delegations of Uzbekistan and Moldova discussed key issues of bilateral relations, in particular in such areas as political, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The sides noted the importance of intensification of interaction between Uzbekistan and Moldova, which in recent years has been limited mainly to the agenda of the UN General Assembly.
The diplomats of Uzbekistan and Moldova stressed the significant potential for expanding cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, tourism, academic exchanges between the educational institutions of the two countries.
The meeting raised the issue of holding a regular meeting of the Uzbek-Moldovan Intergovernmental Commission on Expanding Cooperation, the last meeting within which was held 16 years ago in Tashkent.
The delegations of the foreign affairs bodies of Uzbekistan and Moldova also considered other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day in Chisinau, a separate meeting of representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan and Moldova was held.
An inventory of the legal framework of bilateral relations has been carried out, the sides exchanged views on the drafts of the Uzbek-Moldovan documents, which can be agreed upon and signed in the near future.
