Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed issues of bilateral cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 June 2022, a meeting was held in Nur-Sultan. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov in the framework of the third ministerial meeting "Central Asia - China".

The ministers discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

It was emphasized that due to the political will of the leaders of the two countries, Uzbek-Turkmen relations have risen to a qualitatively new level.

The high growth rates of bilateral trade between the countries were especially noted.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of agreements at the highest level, primarily on the promotion of priority projects of bilateral trade, economic, transport and communication, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The prospects for regional cooperation and the continuation of a close and fruitful dialogue within the framework of international organizations were discussed.

In addition, the schedule, agenda and organizational aspects of upcoming high-level events were considered.

The heads of the foreign ministries reaffirmed their firm commitment to the course of deepening strategic partnership relations for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.

The conversation was held in a traditionally friendly and businesslike atmosphere.
