Foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and India meet in New Delhi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 February 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in New Delhi on a working visit, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India, Subramaniam Jaishankar.

During the negotiations, the state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Indian multifaceted relations, topical issues of interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations were discussed.

The parties noted with satisfaction that the agreements reached during the online summit in December 2020 made it possible to bring the strategic partnership between the two states to a qualitatively new level.

Particular attention is paid to issues of further development of trade and economic cooperation. The ways of increasing investment interaction and attracting advanced technologies in the creation of new modern industries in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of projects of social and infrastructural significance.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies exchanged views on issues of interaction within the UN, SCO and other multilateral structures, ensuring regional security and stability.

The important role of the ministerial dialogue "India - Central Asia" with the participation of Afghanistan in intensifying and improving the mechanisms of interregional cooperation and establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan was emphasized.

The Indian side is invited to the International High-Level Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held this year in Tashkent.

During the conversation, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
