Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and China hold talks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 September 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met in Moscow with a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi.

The heads of the foreign ministries discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of ensuring security.

Special attention was paid to the issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Chinese relations of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The ministers exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming joint events at various levels.

The importance of close interaction and coordination of efforts to maintain the pace and development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation was emphasized.

They expressed interest in further expanding ties to exchange experience in diagnosing coronavirus and treating those infected, improving the qualifications of doctors and developing an antiviral vaccine, as well as preventing the consequences of a pandemic.

They noted the demand for the mechanism of meetings of the Foreign Ministers "Central Asia - China" for the formation of a zone of security, stability and prosperity in the region. The necessity of taking practical measures to continue the implementation of investment and infrastructure projects, contributing to the acceleration of economic and social development of the countries of Central Asia and China, was stated.

Ministers welcomed the decision to hold the first round of inter-Afghan talks in Doha.

The meeting also discussed issues of multilateral cooperation within the UN, SCO and other international organizations.
