Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 5 to 8 August, the International University of Tourism "Silk Road" is holding entrance exams in bachelor's programs using the leading online proctoring system "Examus", which has been actively used by leading universities in the USA and Europe, Asia, Russia and Kazakhstan for more than five years.
Online proctoring is a monitoring system that, based on built-in artificial intelligence, detects prohibited actions before and during the exam. Surveillance is carried out from three sources: audio, video and desktop screen recording. When you try to open another tab in the browser (except for the exam window) or spy / eavesdrop on a hint, the system automatically detects a violation. The system works equally well with individual users and thousands of people. All that is required for verification is a stable internet connection, a computer or laptop with webcam and microphone support.
When passing the entrance exams, an applicant is prohibited from transferring the details of access to his account (login and password) to third parties, to allow third parties to take the exam instead of himself, to provide access to the computer to third parties during testing, as well as to involve the help of third parties, to leave the visibility zone webcams, conduct conversations during the exam, use prompts from outsiders, use cell phones, cheat sheets, books, search for materials on the Internet and use different computers and gadgets to pass the exam.
“We are impressed by the level of equipment of the University, which uses this technology, and I am very glad that it is with the Silk Road International Tourism University that we are launching the first project in Uzbekistan of this scale. I would like to note that during a pandemic, almost all educational institutions switch to a remote format and are forced to conduct exams and tests remotely. However, it is extremely difficult to ensure control over the observance of all procedures, to track whether students are cheating. We allow students to be confident in their results, excluding any substitution, or outside influence. This is what online proctoring systems are for,” said Dmitry Istomin, CEO and founder of Examus.
“For objective control over the quality of the entrance exams, foreign representatives of the Examus company were invited. It is also worth noting that the entire process of passing the entrance exams is under the strict supervision of the staff of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the staff of the Department of the Examination Commission of the University,” the press service of the university says.
