Food Industry Association to implement 347 investment projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Food Industry Association will implement 347 investment projects for 106.6 billion soums in 2013, a representative of the organization said.

According to the association, implementation of these projects will allow to ensure launch of additional capacities for 138,000 tonnes and create 3,162 new jobs.

It is planned to launch production of iodine salt at Kungrad Natriy Sulfat, sugar at Angrenshakar, fats at Tashkent Yog-Moy Kombinat, etc. Some enterprises will be launched in rural areas, including processing of 300 tonnes of milk in Sariasia district and 800 tonnes of milk in Kamashi.

Uzbekistan Food Industry Association said that the volume of investment, used in 2012, made up US$48.8 million, which grew by 208.6% compared to 2011.

This helped to increase production capacities by 12,600 tonnes on processing of milk, 4,600 tonnes of meat, 30,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables. The industry also launched production of 126 new products.

In the results of reforms in Uzbekistan on creation of new capacities and modernization of existing enterprises on production of fat and edible oils, tinned products, meat and milk goods, soft drinks, and other food products, their number reached 6,600 enterprises as of 1 January 2013.

Some 312 enterprises on processing agriculture fruits and vegetables, meat and milk products will be created within the presidential resolution “On measures on further improving organization of management and development of food industry for 2012-2015”, of which 169 will be new enterprises and 143 existing enterprises will be modernized.

Implementation of these projects will help to increase processing capacities by 63,100 tonnes of fruits and vegetables, 16,500 tonnes of meat and 45,700 tonnes of milk products.

Uzbekistan Food Industry Association has 150 enterprises of food industry, which produce over 1,000 products, including edible oil. Currently, share of enterprises of Uzbekistan Food Industry Association makes up 38% from total food production, while share of the association in production of edible oil, margarin, sugar and soap – 100%.

In 2012, the enterprises of the Association produced over 3 trillions of goods, which grew by 8.2% year-on-year.

Production of margarine rose by 50%, confectionery products - 3.7 times, butter - by 10%, meat and meat products - 5.6%, milk and dairy products - 7.1%, canned fruits and vegetables - 43,3%.
