First International Contemporary Art Biennale “Recipes for Broken Hearts” Opens in Bukhara
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first International Contemporary Art Biennale “Recipes for Broken Hearts” was officially opened in Bukhara.
The event brought together representatives from cultural and diplomatic circles, as well as artists, curators, and guests from various countries.
Speakers at the ceremony included Saida Mirzieeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan; Gayane Umerova, Biennale Commissioner; curator Diana Campbell; and Vael al-Awar, Art Director of the architectural program.
In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of Bukhara as a unique space for dialogue between art and history.
The project, organized by the Culture and Arts Development Foundation, is part of the program to revive Bukhara’s Old City and reflects the country’s strategic course of preserving cultural heritage while incorporating a contemporary interpretation.
