Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 December 2020, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis S. Safoyev with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Sayyid Ali Asad Gilani.
It was noted that relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan have significantly strengthened recently. Bilateral relations have great potential, primarily in the spheres of trade and economic relations and tourism.
The Ambassador praised the regional policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his forward-looking approach to international relations, as well as efforts to establish peace and stability in the Central Asian region.
During the meeting, the state and prospects of inter-parliamentary relations at the regional level were discussed. They also touched upon the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation in the textile, agricultural, educational and cultural spheres, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain a systematic dialogue between the chambers of parliaments of the two countries and friendship groups.
