First container train from Uzbekistan to China departs via Kashgar

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the first container train from the Uzbek capital to Lanzhou, China, departed along the new multimodal route “Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China.”

The ceremonial send-off of the train marked a milestone in the development of the regional transport and logistics network. The route runs through Kashgar and provides direct rail connectivity with Gansu Province, opening new opportunities for faster and more reliable cargo deliveries.

During the event, it was also announced that a new logistics base of China’s Gansu International Logistics Group Co. Ltd. has started operations in Uzbekistan.

The project will:

– strengthen Uzbekistan’s and the broader region’s transit potential,
– significantly reduce delivery times,
– create conditions for the sustainable growth of freight traffic along the Gansu–Kashgar–Central Asia corridor.

The new route is viewed as an important link in expanding transport corridors connecting Central Asia with China and as a contribution to deepening economic partnership between the two countries.
