Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This morning was marked by the grand opening of the VI International Congress of the World Society "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan - the basis of a new Renaissance." 

Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, spoke at the event. He noted that as a result of comprehensive programs aimed at increasing the importance of museums, archaeological research and monuments, this area has become one of the most important on the government’s agenda.

The chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov addressed the participants and guests with a welcoming speech.

“I thank all of you for your time, your interest in the topic, reforms, in those important events that are taking place in Uzbekistan today in the field of preserving the country’s cultural heritage. I would like to note that the reforms launched in New Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are bearing fruit and bright results today. One of these results is certainly today’s congress and, of course, the books that we see, the work that was created thanks to the consolidation of state authorities, socially responsible business, the international community, and experts. By joining our efforts, we are creating this wonderful work together,” said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.

He also stressed the importance of this large-scale work not only for the international community, but also for the population of the republic, primarily the youth of Uzbekistan.

The organizers of the Congress taking place these days are the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan and the Eriell Group oilfield service company, which is also the general sponsor of the event.
