Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President signed Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of legislation on intellectual property objects."

Law "On Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs" was supplemented with a section "Grounds and procedure for imposing a fine, as well as the procedure for paying a fine by legal entities for violation of legislation on industrial property objects".

In particular, the grounds for liability for violation of legislation on industrial property objects are defined:

Unauthorized manufacture, use, import, offer for sale, sale, other introduction into civil circulation or storage for this purpose of a product or article containing the corresponding patented subject matter of industrial property, as well as the use of a method protected by a patent for an invention, or introduction into civil circulation, or storage for this purpose of a product manufactured directly by the method protected by a patent for an invention - entails the imposition of a fine on legal entities from 100 to 200 sizes of basic estimated value. Fines are determined for each type of offense separately.

The Law "On Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin" introduced an article establishing the grounds and procedure for imposing a fine, as well as the procedure for paying it by legal entities for violation of the legislation on trademarks and appellations places of origin of goods.

Thus, the illegal use of a trademark, appellation of origin of goods or confusingly similar designations for homogeneous goods - entails a fine of 100 to 200 sizes of basic estimated value. Fines are determined for each type of offense separately.

In the case of voluntary payment within a month of 70% of the fine, the offender is exempted from paying the remaining amount.

Law “On Company Names” was supplemented with an article, according to which the illegal use of a company name entails a fine of 100 to 200 sizes of basic estimated value for legal entities.

Law “On the Bar” was amended to automate a number of services and provide technical support. Thus, the registration of law firms, law firms and bar associations will now be carried out by public service centers.
