Ferghana Region and UNIDO ITPO Korea Agree to Establish Contact Points for Cooperation Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana region hokim Khayrullo Bozorov held a meeting with Maengho Shin, Director of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO ITPO Korea).

The Republic of Korea joined UNIDO in 1985, and two years later — in 1987 — established the ITPO Korea office in Seoul, which actively promotes sustainable industrial development and investment in developing countries through the organization’s global network.

During the meeting, the head of Ferghana region highly appreciated the initiatives presented by the Korean side — particularly those related to industrial development, investment attraction, technology transfer, and innovation support. He expressed gratitude for the interest shown in building a partnership with Ferghana region.

Bozorov shared information about the industrial and agricultural potential of the region, highlighting the dynamism of local entrepreneurs and the favorable investment climate. He noted that Ferghana is among the most rapidly developing regions of Uzbekistan and that cooperation with UNIDO ITPO Korea will create additional opportunities to attract international partners and advanced technologies.

The sides discussed the prospects for joint projects in industry, information technology, and other areas, as well as the possibility of opening a UNIDO ITPO Korea office in Ferghana.

For his part, Maengho Shin emphasized the organization’s keen interest in exploring cooperation potential with the region, noting that ITPO Korea’s mission is to promote sustainable industrial growth and strengthen investment and technological collaboration between Korea and Uzbekistan.

Following the talks, the parties signed an agreement to establish contact points for continued communication, information exchange, and coordination of joint initiatives — marking the beginning of a productive and long-term partnership.
