Ferghana Region and Seoul’s Gangseo District Sign Sister-City Agreement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana region hokim Khayrullo Bozorov held a meeting with Jin Gyo-hun, head of Gangseo District in Seoul.
The meeting was also attended by Alisher Abdusalomov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea.
The sides discussed ways to expand trade and economic ties between Ferghana region and Gangseo District, establish direct cooperation, and organize regular contacts between business representatives of the two regions.
Following the talks, the city of Ferghana and Gangseo District signed an agreement to establish sister-city relations.
The new partnership is expected to open broad opportunities for cooperation in industry, information technology, education, tourism, healthcare, urban infrastructure, and environmental protection, as well as in investment and trade.
Gangseo District is one of Seoul’s key transport and economic hubs, combining advanced infrastructure with rich natural landscapes and a high level of urban development. It is home to Gimpo International Airport, the second-largest airport in the South Korean capital, as well as the Seoul Botanic Garden, the Hangang River Park, and other green areas designed for recreation and environmental preservation.
Gangseo is also home to the Heo Jun Museum, dedicated to the founder of traditional Korean medicine, along with numerous educational and cultural institutions and a well-developed transport network that includes metro lines and express highways.
The signing of the sister-city agreement marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, aimed at promoting mutually beneficial ties and sharing best practices across various sectors.
