Ferghana Refinery Implements New Technologies to Boost Hydrocarbon Processing Efficiency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The oil refining sector in Uzbekistan continues to implement measures aimed at deepening the processing of hydrocarbon feedstock and increasing the efficiency of production processes. A key focus of these efforts has been the incorporation of secondary processing fractions into the production of commercial petroleum products.
Fractions obtained in the final stages of refining typically contain elevated levels of resins, unsaturated compounds, as well as sulfur- and nitrogen-containing components, according to the press service of the Ferghana Refinery. These characteristics complicate further use, negatively affect product stability, and place additional strain on processing equipment, necessitating the application of advanced purification and stabilization methods.
Specialists at the Ferghana Refinery have developed and implemented a technological approach that involves blending coker gasoline and coker distillate with straight-run diesel fuel, followed by processing the resulting mixture in a hydrodesulfurization unit. This process reduces the content of undesirable compounds, improves product stability, and enhances performance characteristics.
As a result of implementing this technology, the refinery has increased diesel fuel production through partial utilization of coker gasoline, improved the low-temperature properties of diesel fuel, including a reduction in its pour point, and produced stable gasoline suitable for the preparation of commercial-grade fuels of all types without restrictions.
The adoption of this solution has enhanced the efficiency of secondary fraction use, increased the yield of marketable products, and reduced dependence on scarce straight-run components. The technology has also positively impacted the refinery’s economic performance.
These measures are part of the ongoing modernization of the Ferghana Refinery and aim to ensure a stable supply of petroleum products to the domestic market with quality characteristics that meet contemporary standards.
