Ferghana Buses Halted as Methane Refueling Stations Temporarily Closed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the morning of 26 January, residents of Ferghana faced disruptions in public transport services.

According to the Ministry of Transport, bus routes were unable to operate due to the temporary closure of methane refueling stations, Daryo.uz reports citing Ministry spokesperson Navruz Ashurmatov.

“Indeed, buses did not go out on their routes. Since the methane refueling stations were not operational, vehicles could not be refueled,” the official stated.

The reasons for the temporary shutdown of the CNG stations in the region, as well as the timeline for restoring normal bus service, have not yet been clarified.

Similar disruptions have been reported in Tashkent Region, where residents of Almalyk have experienced a suspension of bus services for three consecutive days. Social media users note that moving around the city has become extremely difficult, taxi fares have surged, and overcrowded “Damas” minibuses are unable to meet passenger demand.

Comparable issues have been reported in Angren, where buses have reportedly not operated since 22 January.

These interruptions follow the reintroduction of temporary restrictions on methane refueling stations across Uzbekistan from 20 January, which directly affected urban public transport operations.
