Fatal Traffic Accident in the Capital: Scooter Driver Dies on the Spot
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the early hours of 2 June, a serious road traffic accident with a tragic outcome occurred in the Sergeli district of Tashkent.
According to the Traffic Safety Department of the city’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate, the accident happened around 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of Mirzo Tursunzade and Mehrigiyo streets.
As a result of the collision between a scooter and a Damas vehicle, the latter overturned. Unfortunately, the scooter driver died at the scene from sustained injuries.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — “Violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation resulting in involuntary manslaughter.”
The article’s sanction provides for a prison sentence of up to seven years, possibly with restrictions on certain rights.
An investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances and causes of the accident.
