Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 May 2021, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farhod Arziev held a meeting with the senior election adviser of the Bureau of the Organization for Security Cooperation in Europe for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Alexei Gromov, who arrived in our country at the head of the Needs Assessment Mission.

During the conversation, the OSCE / ODIHR delegation was informed about the fundamental transformations being carried out in the republic, including measures to ensure the rule of law, freedom of speech and press, all-round protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, promotion of gender equality, the all-round development of youth, as well as the improvement of electoral legislation for based on generally recognized international standards.

Special attention was paid to the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign missions of the republic to assist in the implementation of the constitutional rights of citizens of Uzbekistan abroad, including the creation of the possibility of online registration for participation in elections, the introduction of the practice of early exit voting and other practical measures.

During the visit, the OSCE / ODIHR delegation will hold a series of meetings in the Oliy Majlis, the Supreme Court, the Central Election Commission, ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with leaders of political parties and representatives of civil society.
