Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 29 to 30 September 2021, an economic forum "Uzbekistan: achievements of economic reforms and their prospects" was held in Tashkent, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The forum was attended by over 300 representatives of government agencies of Uzbekistan, international business and the financial sector, international and regional development organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations and the media.

EY sent a delegation of partners and experts from consulting and audit practice to participate in the forum, who over the past five years have been actively involved in discussing the experience of economic reforms, as well as promising directions for the further development of the economy of Uzbekistan.

In particular, EY experts exchanged views with the event participants on regional cooperation, opportunities for further expanding Uzbekistan’s participation in global supply chains and the formation of sustainable energy.

EY partner Timur Pulatov noted that Uzbekistan’s efforts to introduce modern approaches to privatization, large-scale work has begun to transform state-owned enterprises and banks, expand public-private partnerships and provide effective support for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and vulnerable segments of the population, especially in period of a pandemic, in many ways serve as an example of an effective state policy in the socio-economic sphere.

EY partner Paul Cohn made a presentation at the sectional session of the forum on the topic "Uzbekneftegaz: Transformation and Reforms", during which the results of transformations in the oil and gas industry and promising directions for its further reform in the coming period were discussed.

During the forum, an agreement was signed between the Tashkent division of EY and Uzmetkombinat JSC on the provision of consulting services as part of a large-scale development program for Uzmetkombinat JSC, aimed at increasing production capacity by three times by 2030. In accordance with the agreement, EY will assist Uzmetkombinat JSC in the development of a financial model that allows planning and analysis of financial and economic performance indicators, including forecasting for the medium and long term in terms of ensuring financial stability, optimizing production processes and increasing commercial attractiveness for investors, taking into account ongoing and planned investment projects.

Also, within the framework of the forum, a meeting was held between the partners of the company and the management of the oil and gas holding Uzbekneftegaz, during which the prospects for further cooperation in the field of increasing the operational efficiency of the enterprises of the industry were discussed.

In addition, the EY Academy held a training seminar on “Leadership in the face of change”, during which participants from among the participants of the event were introduced to materials on the topic “Change management”.
