Exchange of Views Held on Prospects for Cooperation with World Bank Representatives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 June, a meeting was held between the new Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, Naveed Hassan Naqvi, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov.
The meeting was also attended by the World Bank’s Country Program Coordinator for Uzbekistan, Anastasia Alexandrova; First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilkhom Norkulov; Deputy Ministers Ilkhomjon Umurzakov and Umid Abidkhadzhayev; Ministerial Advisor Jasur Karshibaev; and other senior officials.
During the dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on the country’s ongoing socio-economic reforms and their outcomes — in particular, macroeconomic growth and regional development, the promotion of green growth and energy efficiency, and the implementation of projects based on public-private partnerships. They also discussed ways to continue mutually beneficial cooperation and support for effective joint projects in priority areas.
Particular attention was given to the role of the green economy in job creation and attracting investment, the importance of successfully implementing infrastructure projects to drive economic development, as well as the significance of urban development and improving the population's well-being.
World Bank representatives, in turn, praised Uzbekistan’s socio-economic trends and dynamic economic growth, reaffirming their readiness to further expand cooperation and develop joint projects based on leading international practices.
As a result of the talks, both parties agreed to deepen their partnership, broaden avenues for dialogue, and establish systematic and results-oriented collaboration to achieve shared goals.
