Evgeny Khorishko Appointed Russian Consul General in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has appointed Evgeny Khorishko as the Consul General of Russia in Samarkand, according to the official MFA website.

Khorishko, 60, graduated from MGIMO of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1987. He holds the rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy 2nd Class, awarded in June 2022, and has served in the diplomatic service since 1987. Throughout his career, he has held various positions both at the central MFA headquarters and abroad.

Prior to his Samarkand posting, Khorishko served as Chief Advisor of the Russian MFA’s North Atlantic Department from December 2024.

The opening of the Russian Consulate General in Samarkand was previously announced by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in August 2025.
