Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13-14 October 2020, an event dedicated to the presentation of the essence, status and scope of the right to freedom of religion or belief for all, envisaged in international standards and OSCE commitments in the field of the human dimension, and an online briefing on the OSCE / ODIHR Freedom of Religion or Belief and Security: Policy Manual was held in the format of a video conference.
The presentation was organized by the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in cooperation with the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the OSCE ODIHR and the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
During the event, it was emphasized that the country has created the necessary regulatory framework to ensure the implementation of the right to freedom of conscience, the functioning and development of religious organizations. Uzbekistan has ratified a number of international documents aimed at preventing discrimination against human rights, creating equal opportunities for all citizens.
The participants of the event also substantively considered international standards related to the right to freedom of religion and belief, their main parameters and permissible restrictions on the rights to them in accordance with international law.
The events were attended by Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism R. Alimov and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption Sh. Chulliev.
