Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 June, the International Women’s Water Forum "Fairness, diversity and inclusiveness: water unites us" was held in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe.
The Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Women and Gender Equality M. Kadirkhanova also took part in the work of the International Forum online.
The senator in her speech noted that today the problem related to water is extremely relevant for the countries of Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, the unification of the efforts of the states of Central Asia and international partners in solving the problems associated with the drying up of the Aral Sea, which poses a serious environmental threat to sustainable development of the region is a requirement of the time.
M. Kadirkhanava also emphasized that the international community supports the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In particular, the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region was created, a special resolution was adopted declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies, which became a landmark event.
The forum paid attention to ensuring the active participation of women parliamentarians in increasing the participation of women in solving global problems, improving the legal framework in this area, making decisions on climate change, taking measures to expand their opportunities for independent use of land, water and biological resources.
