Equipment Theft Reported at UzTest Branch in Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A major theft of expensive laboratory equipment has been reported at the regional branch of the State Institution “Uzbek Scientific Center for Testing and Quality Control” (UzTest) in Bukhara region.

According to the UzA news agency, two devices supplied through an international delivery from Germany have gone missing.

The stolen equipment includes a “Brake Test Bench” weighing 1,200 kilograms and valued at 150 million soums, as well as a device for measuring gas cylinder parameters, with an estimated market value of 250 million soums.

Both devices were part of a shipment of three units intended to enhance the quality of technical inspections in the region.

The disappearance occurred at a branch subordinate to the Agency for Technical Regulation. Despite public outcry and the significant financial loss, the Agency's leadership has so far refrained from making any official comments. There is no information yet on what measures are being taken to investigate the incident or hold UzTest officials accountable.
