Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In his Address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, the President of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified strengthening work to ensure national security and increase the combat potential of the Armed Forces as one of the most important priorities on the path to building New Uzbekistan.
Today, against the backdrop of global instability, lack of trust and mutual understanding in the world, and ongoing geopolitical confrontation, the range of challenges and threats to international and regional security is expanding.
The struggle for energy, water, food and other resources is intensifying, the scale of terrorism and extremism, cross-border organized crime, and arms smuggling are expanding.
An analysis of current military conflicts in various regions testifies to fundamentally new approaches to their preparation and conduct. The strategy and tactics of military operations are radically changing. Emphasis is shifting towards the use of the latest high-precision long-range weapons, remotely controlled robotic systems, and the widespread introduction of automated command and control systems for troops and weapons. Confrontation in the information and cyberspace has already become an independent "battlefield".
The complex and rapidly changing situation in the world, the growing challenges and threats to security are also manifesting themselves in Central Asia. The main destabilizing factor in the region is still Afghanistan, where terrorist groups remain active.
In such a complex and ambiguous environment, powerful, trained, equipped and self-sufficient Armed Forces are the backbone and foundation, the guarantor of the peaceful life of the Uzbek people.
“We must cherish our peaceful and calm life as an invaluable, highest asset, protect it for the sake of happiness and the future of our families, children and future generations,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in his Address.
To do this, on the basis of the fundamental provisions of the Defense Doctrine, the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, comprehensive measures are being taken in all areas of further development and renewal of the entire military organization of the state.
On a systematic basis, measures are being taken to increase the combat readiness of the troops, improve the command and control system, equip units with modern weapons and military equipment, strengthen morale, moral and psychological training and patriotism, social and legal protection of our servicemen.
Modernization and development cover all spheres of activity of the Armed Forces, from improving the legal framework, optimizing the combat strength and structure of troops, their re-equipment and training, and ending with issues of comprehensive provision and social protection of servicemen and their families.
Despite this, the difficult situation in the world today, contradictions and armed conflicts, the growing scale of radicalism, extremism and terrorism require raising to a "new level the work to ensure national security, increase the combat potential of the Armed Forces," the President of our country emphasized in his Address.
Thus, strengthening the defense capability and military power of Uzbekistan remains in the focus of attention of the country’s leadership and is one of the most important areas of state building.
Constantly increasing the pace of development, demonstrating high professional skills, the national Armed Forces prove that they are worthy support for the successful promotion of economic, social and political reforms.
