Enhanced Accountability for Conformity Assessment Bodies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts aimed at strengthening control over the conformity assessment of products and services.

Under the new regulations, if a violation of conformity assessment rules causes harm to the life or health of citizens, the conformity assessment body bears joint liability with the seller, manufacturer, or service provider for compensation of damages.

At the same time, legal entities that recall at least 70% of products not meeting mandatory standards are exempt from financial penalties.

Similar benefits are extended to manufacturers, their authorized representatives, sellers, or importers who recall products that do not comply with technical regulations.

Conformity assessment bodies and their officials who violate the rules are held accountable under the law and the relevant certification service agreements.
