Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with a delegation of the Energy Charter Secretariat headed by Secretary General Urban Rusnak was held at the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting with the experts of the Energy Charter Secretariat, the draft "In-depth review of the policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of energy efficiency" was discussed, including an extensive review of legislation and the progress of reforms in this area.
The draft review presents an analysis of the structure of the energy market in Uzbekistan, the supply and demand for energy in the country, the energy pricing policy, the relationship of water and energy resources, the current environmental management and other components of the energy policy and energy efficiency policy currently in force in the republic.
Also, taking into account the best international experience, the Energy Charter Secretariat prepared recommendations for further improving the level of energy efficiency in such sectors of the economy and social sphere as the fuel and electricity, construction, transport industry sectors, the housing and communal services sector, the sphere of lighting and energy-consuming devices, etc.
The parties discussed in detail the prepared draft review, conclusions and recommendations.
This review has been considered with all organizations involved in the fuel and energy industry and will serve to significantly simplify the procedure for potential investors to study the legal framework for the electricity sector and the reforms being carried out in the country.
During the meeting, the head of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Urban Rusnak, noted the significant pace of reforming the energy sector, carried out on the basis of international best practices, and also highlighted the achievements of Uzbekistan in equipping consumers with "smart meters" and creating on their basis an Electricity Metering Automation Center, which provides for the possibility full coverage of consumers of the Republic.
