Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a 7-year-old boy who fell into a well

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Employees of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a 7-year-old boy who had fallen into a deep well in the Andijan region, the ministry’s press service reported.

The incident occurred on 16 May around 11:00 a.m. in the "Ibn Sino" mahalla of the Kurgontepa district. According to information received by the emergency service, the child — the son of the owner of one of the houses on Maktub Street — fell in the yard into an unused well about 40 meters deep and only 90 centimeters in diameter. The well contained no water and was not fenced off.

A rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations promptly arrived at the scene. Using specialized equipment and gear, the rescuers carried out an operation during which the boy was safely extracted from the narrow shaft.

Preliminary reports indicate that the boy’s condition is satisfactory. He was taken to a medical facility for examination and to receive necessary care.
