Employee of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement Detained for Accepting a Bribe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In one of the districts of Fergana region, the head of the district branch of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement (BCE) was caught abusing his official position by demanding a bribe of US$2,000 to halt enforcement actions related to the eviction of defendants from a residential property. The case was based on a civil court order under execution by a subordinate bailiff.

On 3 June of this year, he received US$1,200 as part of the demanded bribe.

During an operation conducted by the State Security Service in cooperation with the Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, the official was caught red-handed while receiving the remaining US$800. Material evidence was seized at the scene.

A criminal case has been opened against the BCE official under paragraph “b” of Part 2, Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (accepting a bribe in a significant amount). He has been placed under arrest as a preventive measure.
