Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ashgabat Organizes Safe Transit of Nationals Across the Border

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is taking urgent measures to assist Uzbek citizens returning from Iran via the territory of Turkmenistan, according to the Dunyo News Agency.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ashgabat, working jointly with Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and other relevant authorities, is organizing the reception of nationals at the border, resolving visa and transportation issues, and ensuring their safe return home.

Thanks to coordinated efforts and the support of the Turkmen authorities, embassy staff successfully escorted 13 citizens of Uzbekistan through the Turkmen–Iranian border crossing at Sarakhs border crossing.

As of 2 March 2026, border checkpoints along the Turkmen–Iranian state border—Gaudan–Bajgiran, Artyk–Lotfabad, Akýaila–Incheborun and Altyn Asyr–Incheborun—have resumed operations for the passage of citizens and vehicles. At the Gaudan–Bajgiran checkpoint, embassy personnel meet arriving citizens with mobilized transport, providing safe escort and the necessary organizational support.
